Out of Touch with Hispanic Community
In an interview with Truthdig, Alan Grayson said that his district was full of illegal immigrants, and that if someone were to walk into the supermarket, they’d “pass three or four people who have no papers.” Grayson’s district is comprised of 40% Hispanics, all legal US citizens, bringing up questions about Grayson’s possible penchant for racial profiling.
Grayson headlined a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Kissimmee Planned Parenthood clinic, which claimed to target the “largely Hispanic population,” saying that the ethnic minority would be the primary clientele for the company largely known for abortions.
In 2013, Grayson referred to Latinos as “brown people,” and accused Republicans of not wanting to help them at all.
During the 2012 house primaries, before the Republican nominee had even been decided, Alan Grayson spent more than $300,000 on negative ads to trash John Quinones. His decision to single out Quinones stemmed from a fear that Quinones was his biggest threat due to the fact that his district has a significant Hispanic population.
